Meyer's Park Hotel

The 'Meyer's Park Hotel' exhibit, which opened in September 2005, provides an historic record of the changes that have occurred on the block of Washington Avenue opposite Veterans' Memorial Park, stretching from Broadway (formerly Railroad Avenue) to Madison Avenue.

For example, the building that in later years would house the Meyer's Park Hotel, one of the first hotels in Westwood, was erected in 1870 and operated as a saloon until 1877, when it was converted into the Park Hotel - so named for its location across from Bogert Park.

The Meyer's Park Hotel provided lodging for visitors who arrived in the Borough on the recently extended Erie Railroad line.

The Meyer's Park Hotel building still exists today, housing one of the Borough's best known eateries -- The Iron Horse Restaurant.
